Hedwig “Hedi” Terisa Chlan

Hedwig “Hedi” Terisa Chlan, age 94, of Montgomery, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 21 from 9:30am-10:30am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am all held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School or Church.

Hedi was born on January 22, 1929 in Germany to Anton and Marie Gaertner. After completion of primary education, she attended vocational school to be a beautician. Hedi was united in marriage to Milo J. Chlan on July 11, 1953 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. She worked at Munsingwear, Washa’s Dept. Store, and Motor Mart/ Food-in-Fuel all in Montgomery. She was an VFW Auxiliary life-time member in Montgomery and enjoyed knitting, sewing, doing after school daycare at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic School, spending time with grandchildren, visiting with friends, and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

Hedi is survived by her children, Aggie (Ray) Otero of Riverside, CA., Susan (Richard) Olson of Faribault, and Linda Chlan (James Grindle) of Lakeville; grandchildren, Kevin Pelowski, Margaret Hanson- Pierre (Andrew) Brian (Mia Budescu) Pelowski, Kathy (Nate) Carlson, and Jeff Pelowski; great-grandchildren, Drew Pelowski and Ethan Carlson; sister, Gertrud Hefner of Ludwigsburg, Germany; nieces and nephews.
Hedi is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo J. Chlan; daughter, Hedi (Bill) Pelowski; granddaughter, Teresa Otero; brother and sister.
