Alan G. Pinney

Alan G. Pinney, 65, of Le Center, passed away at his home on Friday, February 16, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, February 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center, with visitation 1 hour prior at church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

Alan was born on December 13, 1952 to Gerald and Vivian (Busse) Pinney in St. Peter. Alan graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1971 and from the U of M in 1975 with a degree in ag engineering. He began farming immediately after college and went into partnership with his brother Mark in 1980. Alan was united in marriage to Sandy McGillen on September 13, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. In addition to farming, Alan and his brother Mark hauled canning crops for Green Giant/Seneca for many years. He continued to farm with Mark and his son Michael (who joined in 2013) until his passing. He also served several years on the Le Sueur County Fair Board. His love of family and farming defined him throughout his life.

Alan is survived by his wife, Sandy Pinney of Le Center; children, Kate (Jeff) Bohn of Eagan, and Michael (Bridget) Pinney of Le Sueur; grandchildren, Austin Bohn, and Hayden Pinney; mother, Vivian Pinney of Le Sueur; mother-in-law, Luella McGillen of St. Peter; brothers, Steve (Jessie) Pinney of Minnetrista, Mark (Dianne) Pinney of Le Sueur, and Keith (Amy) Pinney of Houlton, WI; nieces; nephews; cousins; close friend William Fickling.

Alan is preceded in death by his father, Gerald; brother and sister in infancy.
