Alvin E. Jilek

Alvin E. Jilek, age 87 of Montgomery, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12 at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Rev. Tom Franklin will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11 and one hour prior to service time all at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague.

Alvin was born on October 1, 1928 in Montgomery Twp., Le Sueur Co., MN to Edward and Millie (Vita) Jilek. He attended country school in New Prague. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Hughes on November 6, 1971 in Morristown. In his earlier years he farmed. Later, he worked for Green Giant Company. He always took pride in his job, and making friends along the way. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing Rummy. Alvin loved dogs, especially German Shepherds and his side kick, Scruffy.

Alvin is survived by his daughter, Amy Brown of Montgomery; granddaughter, Jazmin; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty and their beloved dog, Scruffy.
