Alvin R. Pany

Alvin R. Pany, age 90, of New Prague, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Mayo Systems Hospital New Prague. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 9am-11am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Memorial Mass at 11am with Father George Grafsky officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery.

Alvin was born on July 17, 1929 in Montgomery to Herman and Vlasta (Trcka) Pany. Alvin was a graduate of Montgomery High School in 1947 and University of MN for Mortuary Science. Alvin served in Germany at a US Hospital for the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 as an Army Corporal during the Korean War. Alvin joined his father to work in the funeral and ambulance service, hardware store, furniture store, appliance business and International Harvester farm machine business. They worked together 11 months when his father died at the age of 52. He also worked in Real Estate Sales, and farming. Alvin was united in marriage to Geraldine M. Fox on October 14, 1954 at St. Peter and Pauls Church in Mankato.

Alvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, remodeling buildings, and wintering in Florida. Alvin was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Gerry Pany of New Prague; children, David Pany of Glendale, CA, Steve Pany of Prior Lake, Andy Pany of New Prague, Jeff Pany of New Prague, and Laura (Terry) Vedder of Rochester; grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica) Vedder and Michael (Charlyn) Vedder; 3 great-grandchildren, Micah, Mira, and Robby.

Alvin is preceded in death by daughter, Lisa Pany in 1985; parents; and sister Ardyce Rainey.
