Betty Marie Braun

Betty Marie Braun, age 88, died on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Mayo Systems Hospital in New Prague. Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday June 22, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Montgomery.

Betty was born June 26, 1930 to Theodore and Helen (Boldt) Kewatt in Kilkenny. She attended McKinley High School in Le Center, Normal Training in Le Center, and graduated from Mankato State Teachers College in Mankato. She was united in marriage to Delmer P. Braun on August 28, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilkenny.

Betty was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Kilkenny and the St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Betty was also a member of Women of the Church, AAL Thrivant Financial, and Bakers Dozen Extension Group. She was a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher. Betty enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

Betty is survived by her children, Diane Schirmacher of Owatonna, Delaine (Jimmy) Roberts of Oldsmar, FL, Harvey (Carol) Braun of Montgomery, and Gloria (Rick) Sorem of Big Lake; brothers, Donald and Jerry Kewatt; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Braun; parents; brothers, Charles Kewatt, Henry Kewatt, Orville Kewatt, and Teddy Kewatt (in infancy); sisters, Louise Bartusek, Alvera Schnoor, Shirley Bluhm, Joan Bruns, and Phyllis Kewatt (in infancy), and son-in-law Dave Schirmacher.
