Bob Leary

Bob Leary, our dear dad and beloved husband, loyal friend and kind neighbor was called HOME on April 14. Wake to be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 4 pm to 8 pm at St. Mary's Social Hall in Le Center and one hour before mass. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the St. Mary's Church building fund or to the Le Sueur County 4-H federation.

Robert John Leary was born 100% Irish May 10, 1932 in Caledonia, Minnesota to George and Ethel (Sheehan) Leary. He was the youngest, and most spoiled, of four boys. Upon high school graduation, on a whim, Bob enlisted in the Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Laffey during the Korean War. After his Navy discharge, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He was an enthusiastic and lifelong promoter of the Alpha Gama Rho (AGR) fraternity. On June 27, 1959, Bob married Susan (Denkinger) in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served as a County Extension Agent in Lac qui Parle, Jackson and Le Sueur counties. In addition to AGR, Bob delighted in his involvement and friendships through the Ancient Order of Hibernians, KCs, Community Club, community garden, the Bowler senior citizen bequest, 4-H/Extension and his wide assortment of chums through the county.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, George (Jan), and Charles (Kathy); daughters, Mary Graves (Mark), Kathryn Hoffman (Steve), and Carolyn Beer (Michael); 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Father Donald Leary.

Proceeded in death by parents; brothers, Harold (Rita), and Bill (Faith).

Military honors will be provided by the Le Center Area Honor Guard.
