Bonnie Mae Phillips

d. July 14, 2020

Bonnie Mae Phillips, 79, of Le Center died Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Mala Strana Care Center. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25 from 2pm-4pm with Funeral Service at 4pm. all at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Interment will be held in Woodland Cemetery in Le Center.

Bonnie was born on June 13, 1941 in St. Peter to Earl and Ethel (Chase) Bosacker. She graduated in 1959 from McKinley High School, Le Center. Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles "Jim" Phillips on October 25, 1969 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. In 1960 she began her lifelong nursing career where she spent her time working at Queen of Peace Hospital, Mala Strana Nursing Home, St. Peter Healthcare Center, Central Healthcare, and later retired from Golden Choices in Le Center. After retirement she served as a volunteer respite hospice caregiver. Bonnie also used this time wrapping silverware at her friend's cafe during her coffee time. She always felt bad when she couldn't be there to get it done.

Bonnie enjoyed having coffee with her friends, visiting, socializing, getting to know new people and telling stories with everyone around her. She was outgoing beyond measure and never knew a stranger. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and former member of the Le Center Lioness Club. She had a love for watching Minnesota sports and her "stories". She treasured her 1959 classmates and the get togethers they would have. For years, she created her needlepoint "fancywork" and shared it with those she loved. Bonnie enjoyed collecting cardinals, angels, and cookbooks/recipes. Her husband, her siblings, her kids, and grandkids were the most important parts of her life. She loved attending all of the grandkids' sporting events or activities, but most of all she loved being silly and creating memories with and for them. She always said, "I can't give them much, but I can give them memories."

Bonnie is survived by her children, Jeff (Treasa) Phillips of Henderson, Chad (Heidi) Phillips of Cleveland, and Tracey Phillips of Franklin, IN; grandchildren, Jamie Phillips, Garrett Phillips, Courtney (Sean) Dawson, Gus Phillips, Lindsey Phillips, Christa Phillips and Kallie Phillips; grand-dog, Duke; brothers, Curt (Karen) Bosacker of Le Center, and Lyle (Nancy) Bosacker of Fort Myers, FL; sister, Brenda (Chuck) Kotasek of St. Peter; brothers in law, Tom Phillips of Henderson, and Mark Phillips of Le Sueur; many other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Jim" Phillips; her parents, Earl and Ethel Bosacker; in-laws, Maine and Alice Phillips; nephews, John Bosacker, and Chris Bosacker; sister-in-law, LaMona Phillips.
