BRIAN ANTHONY GERMSCHEID, age 68, of Le Center, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague.

Born on October 19, 1956, in Mankato, he was the son of Richard and Jean (Baker) Germscheid. Brian grew up in St. Peter and graduated from St. Peter High School with the class of 1975. Following his education, Brian enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, being honorably discharged in 1976. He was united in marriage on April 13, 1985, to Phyllis Buffington in Benton, Arkansas. Together they raised three children and were later divorced. Later in life, Brian was united in marriage to Lori (Wetzel) O’Malley on May 20, 2022, at St. Henry Catholic Church in rural Le Center.

Brian had a lifelong career working for ADM in various roles, mainly in project engineering and as a plant superintendent. His career with ADM took him to various cities throughout the United States and even overseas. Brian loved fishing, going to deer camp, working on cars, going on motorcycle trips and camping. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and Sons of the American Legion. He was always attentive to others and their needs. He also cherished the quality time spent with his family and friends. Brian will be remembered as a gentle, calm and patient man who had a big heart with an infectious smile. He will be dearly missed.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Lori; children: Charidy Buffington (Josh Bexley), Stefany (Timothy) Vaughan, and Steven Germscheid (Sara Stroud); step children: Ryan (Holly) O’Malley, Stephanie (Rick) Anderley, Tim (Lisa) O’Malley, Tiffany (Justin) Bittner, and Dan O’Malley; grandchildren: Ethan Bean, Taylon Henderson, and Chevy Ellingston; step grandchildren: Mason, Carter, Adalyn, Brook, Jake, Austin, Grace, Parker, Myla, Trevor, Dayson, Tristin, Kailey, Tucker, Rylan; siblings: Mary DeGrood (Mark Cramer), Patty (Byron) Kleist, Kevin (Kathy) Germscheid, Jeff (Jean) Germscheid, Suzie (Brian) Donahue, Rick (Dawn) Germscheid; many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who knew him as “Uncle B”.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Joe DeGrood.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home (245 South Maple Ave., Le Center, MN 56057). There will be an additional visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 14, 2025, at St. Henry Catholic Church (38807 261st Ave., Le Sueur, MN 56058) with Fr. Michael Barsness, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
