Catherine Herrmann (Rathmanner) left this world peacefully on August 22, 2019 at the age of 80 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Monday, August 26 from 3 pm to 8 pm at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 27 at 11 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Tom officiating. Private family interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Catherine was born on October 14, 1938 in New Prague, MN to Dr. M.A. and Florence (Ziska) Rathmanner. She attended St. Wenceslaus School, graduated from New Prague High School in 1956 and from the College of St. Catherine in 1960.

Catherine was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jerry Herrmann in 1961 and settled in Montgomery, raised their family and worked alongside her husband for over 58 years. Catherines three great passions were her faith, her family, and her community. She was a wonderful loving wife and mother, providing her husband and six children with endless support throughout her life. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved being part of their lives.
Catherines involvement in her community was far reaching and she strived to make a positive impact. She and Jerry were honored to represent Montgomery as Grand Marshals of the 2000 Kolacky Day parade, an event of which they took great pride. She was humbled to receive the St. Paul Diocese 2018 CCW/Lay Women Volunteer of the Year.

Catherine touched many people throughout her lifetime with genuine care, compassion and kindness. She found great joy spending time with friends and family in past times including golf, gardening, sewing/ quilting, theater, playing piano, traveling, bridge and book clubs, and throwing a good party.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Jerry Herrmann of Montgomery; children, Dr. Martin (Anna) Herrmann, Mary (Tom) Franta, Katy (Brad) Christian, Susy (Troy) Rabenberg, and Michael (Katie) Herrmann; sisters, Patty McDonald, Mary Ellen Steveken, Margaret Sharkey, and Ann Walker; 18 grandchildren.

Catherine is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Martin Rathmanner; son, Jerry Herrmann.
