Darlene Lamern Germscheid

Darlene Lamern Germscheid, age 91, of Cambridge, formerly of Le Center, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Graceland Crossing Assisted Living in Cambridge. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held also on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Mary's. Father James Adams will be officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

Darlene Lamern Germscheid was born March 4, 1926 in Cherokee Iowa to August and Hulda Brinkman. Her family lived in Paulline Iowa until she was 6 years old. They then moved to Taunton Minnesota and farmed until she was 16 years old. Next, they moved to Le Center where she met Gerald "Jerry" Germscheid whom she would later marry. Darlene first wanted to travel and did so to places like New York and California. She eventually moved to Minneapolis Minnesota and worked at Honeywell for a few years.
Darlene and Jerry got married on August 9, 1958 and moved to St. Peter and raised 3 children, Joseph, Jerome and Dawn. Jerry was Co-owner of Mark and Jerry's Menswear and Darlene enjoyed being a stay home Mom. After a few years they moved to Mankato where Jerry worked as a car salesman and Darlene worked at Carlson Craft in the shipping department until retirement in 1995.
They then moved to Blaine so Darlene and Jerry could babysit their 3 grandkids. It was something they both loved very much. Jerry passed away in 2003. Shortly after his passing, Darlene moved to Cambridge to be closer to her family. It was there she lived until her own passing in February 20th 2018.

Darlene is survived by her children, Joseph Germscheid, Jerry (Karen) Germscheid, and Dawn (Lee) Gass; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Eldien, and Vyona Jerrow; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Germscheid; parents; brothers, Delmer, and Merlyn Brinkman; sisters, Maurine Mangan, and Lorraine Brinkman.
