Donald Paul Hoffman

Donald Paul Hoffman, age 68, of Cleveland, died on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Houston County in Southern Minnesota of a heart attack while deer hunting with friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Cleveland. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church of Christ in Cleveland with visitation one hour prior with Pastor Donna Martinson officiating. Interment will be held in Kasota Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Donald was born on February 21, 1948 in St. Peter to Donald Charles and Daisy (Flowers) Hoffman. He was a 1966 graduate of Cleveland High School. Donald served in the United States Army as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. Upon his return he held positions in manufacturing. Donald was united in marriage to his wife of 45 years, Lynnette (Pettis) in St. Peter and made their home in Cleveland.

Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with friends, especially drinking Diet Dr. Pepper (Donnie's favorite drink) at the cabin. His girls and grandchildren lit up his life. He will be greatly missed. Donald was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Cleveland.

Donald is survived by his wife, Lynnette Hoffman of Cleveland; daughters, Amy (Tim) Ellickson, Abigail Griffiths, and Andrea (Rachel) Hoffman; grandchildren, Bailey and Brandon Ellickson, Benjamin and Emily Griffiths; siblings, Darryl (Rose) Hoffman of Benson, Bonnie Garvin of Le Center, Barb Roemhildt of Elysian, Betty (Rudy) Kaupa of Cleveland, and Tim (Sarah) Hoffman of Henning, MN.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Daniel Austin Ellickson; brothers-in-laws, Joe Garvin and Lloyd Roemhildt.

Military honors provided by the Cleveland area honor guard.
