Donna Mae Beer

DONNA MAE BEER, age 92 of Le Center, died on the morning of Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Carriage House Senior Living in Le Center. 

Donna was born in St. Paul, MN July 20, 1932 to Louis & Cora (Fazendin) Slaby. She went to St. Columbia Grade school, attended St. Joseph’s Academy High School, and graduated as a R.N. from St. Catherine’s School of Nursing. She was working at the Fort Snelling Veteran’s Hospital when she met George Beer, whom she married April 21, 1956. She fulfilled her dream of living on a farm when they built a house on the Beer family homestead just outside of Le Center where they raise 6 wonderful children. She and George moved to town (Le Center) in 1995.

Mom was a member of St. Mary’s CCW and served as President and Circle Leader. She taught CCD classes, helped with church festivals and with the blood bank. She was a woman of strong faith which she ambitiously shared with others. 

Donna is survived by her husband George; brother Fr. Joe Slaby of Maryknoll New York; children Cynthia Jirak of New Prague; Rose (Eric) Bjorlin of Plymouth; Anthony (Gail) Beer of Le Center; Becky (Bryan) Frase of Montgomery; Rick (Paula) Beer of Cleveland; Michael (Carolyn) Beer of Eden Prairie; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Cora Slaby; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mary Slaby; sister and brother-in-law Mary Kay and Charles Simmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center. Visitation will be held for two hours before the service at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.
