Donna M. Benzick, age 84, of Montgomery, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. Visitation will be from 2pm-4pm on Sunday, October 8, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, October 9, at 10am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Victor Valencia officiating with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Donna was born on February 5, 1933 in Montgomery to Louis and Anna (Mader) Springer. She attended St. Raphael's Catholic School in Montgomery for 8 years and then graduated from Montgomery High School in 1951. She lived most of her entire life in the Montgomery area. She worked at the Interstate Power Plant in Montgomery in the 1950's. She also worked for Northern States Power Co. in Minneapolis for 2 years. In her younger years she was also a seasonal worker at Green Giant in Montgomery. She married Robert Benzick on May 17, 1958 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.
Donna was a member and past president of the CCW, a life member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary, and also a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Donna was also an EMT member of the Montgomery Ambulance for 10 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing cards, and was an avid fan of the Twins and Vikings.
Donna is survived by children, Mike Benzick of Montgomery, and Marlys (Mark) Ilg of Montgomery; grandchildren, Holly (Cory) Martinson, and Kelcey (Adam) Stachowiak; great-grandson, Luke Martinson; many nieces and nephews.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Benzick on May 7th, 2013; siblings, Stanley and Leonard Schiprett, Rita (George) Nickolay, and Ceil (Kenneth) French.
