Dorine Nadean Tolzman, age 80, died on Monday, December 30th, 2019, at Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter. She was in the presence of her loving family. Visitation will be on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 9am-11am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church German Lake, with funeral service at 11am. Interment will be held in the German Lake Cemetery.
Dorine Nadean Roemhildt was born to Marvin and Ella (Worrell) Roemhildt on January 21, 1939. She grew up on the family farm in rural Elysian, graduating from Waterville High School. While working as a waitress, she met Richard E. Tolzman and they married on July 13, 1957. Making their home in rural Le Center, they raised two children, Edwin and Lori. Dorine was a homemaker, also working at various jobs until following her true passion of caring for children. She provided day care in her home to many families for several years, then worked as a teachers aide at the Childrens Learning Center. After retiring she delighted in seeing many of the children, whose lives she had touched, grow up. Dorines life changed after being diagnosed the dementia but her love of children never did. Grandma Dorines face would light up at the site of her great-grandchildren and other kids who would visit.
Dorine was a long-time member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church German Lake where she was active with Sunday School, altar guild and the quilting group. She enjoyed morning coffee with friends, country music, but especially being with her family.
Dorine is survived by her children, Edwin (Patty) Tolzman of Gaylord and Lori (Bruce) Collins of St. Peter; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Stacy, Marcus, Ian, Ryan, Corine, Tina, and Shanna; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirlene Steinhaus, Guy (Mary) Roemhildt, and Stan (Dianne) Roemhildt; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sunderman, Jeannie Tolzman, and Carol Schaub; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dorine is preceded in death by her spouse; and parents.
Dorines family wishes to thank the staff at Ecumen Prairie Hill for their care and kindness to her and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their support in her last months.
Her love and smile will live in our hearts forever.
