Douglas Jon McKenzie, age 70, of New Prague, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9 from 10-11 a.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral service will be also on Tuesday, May 9 at 11 a.m. also at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home.
Doug was born on April 22, 1947 in Montgomery to Eugene and Evelyn (Hruby) McKenzie. He received is Associate degree and was a Meat Cutter for Lunds Grocery Store. Doug was united in marriage to Sharon Anderson on September 17, 2015 at St. Gertrudes Rehab Center in Shakopee.
Doug was a 25 year member of AA and sponsored a lot of people with chemical dependency. He was known for his Red Bone Coon Hounds whom where Grand Knight Champions and travelled a lot all over the country with them.
Doug is survived by his wife, Sharon McKenzie of New Prague; step-daughters, Paula (Dan) Dhaene of Henderson, and Pam (Allan) Deml of Owatonna; former wife, MaryJo McKenzie of Montgomery; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Danielle (Jeff) Hall of Palo, IA, and Dennis Wachal of Jordan.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents.
Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.
