Edmund Joseph Dorzinski, age 93 of Le Center, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in New Prague. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 18 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Funeral service will also be held at the funeral home, June 19 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior. Father James Adams will officiate. Private family interment will be in the Fort Snelling Cemetery.
Edmund was born on November 3, 1923 in Sharon Township to Albert and Ida (Retka) Dorzinsky. He served for the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Mary Agnes Reak on August 28, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lexington. Edmund and Mary Agnes farmed all their life.
Edmund enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was fond of antique tractors (red ones). He was very proud of his large garden. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, and LSCPPA.
Edmund is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Agnes Dorzinski; grandchildren, Heather (Matthew) Petersen of Hoboken, NJ, Alex (Jenna) Dorzinski of New Prague and Adam (Lauren Meyer) Dorzinski of Iowa; siblings, Agnes Tuma of Montgomery, and Frankie (Carol) Dorzinsky of Le Center; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Edmund is preceded in death by his parents; son, Eddie Joe Dorzinski; brother, Richard Dorzinsky; sister, Marie Dorzinsky; uncles and aunts, Mike Retka, John Retka, and Jack (Mary) Vroblosky.
Military honors will be provided by the Le Center Honor Guard.
