ELIZABETH “LIZ” ALICE SLADEK, age 80 of Le Center, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Traditions of Montgomery.
Liz was born on the family farm in Lexington Township on June 6, 1944 to parents George and Grace (Prendergast) Tiede. She attended school in Le Center and graduated from McKinley High School with the class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Roy “Butch” Sladek on July 31, 1965. She was a homemaker and worked in the banking field at First National in Le Center for ten years. She then went to Le Sueur and worked for TCF Bank which later became Community Bank and then Hometown Bank for thirty years. Liz eventually retired on December 31, 2010. She was a long-time member of the CCW and the VFW Auxiliary Post1803.
Liz is survived by three sons, Tim (Marie) Sladek of Elk River, Bill (Michelle) Sladek of Chandler, AZ, and David (Rachelle) Sladek of Chatfield; six grandchildren, Tom (Elisha) Sladek, Nathan Sladek, Zach Sladek, Josh Sladek, Sarah Sladek, Amelia Sladek; and a step-granddaughter, Anna Dorninck. She will also be remembered by siblings Carol Koralesky, Lenny Tiede, Art (Jan) Tiede, and Denise (Tom) Schindler; and two sisters-in-law, Barb Tiede and Terry Sladek. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; a brother, James Tiede; a sister, Millie Krenik; a brother-in-law, Bob Koralesky; a sister-in-law, Kathy Tiede; and another brother-in-law, Harold Sladek.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center, with Father Tom Margevicius officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to The Fisher House in Minneapolis. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Le Center is handling the arrangements.
