Elva Mary (Schmidt) Beer

Elva Mary (Schmidt) Beer age 98 of Le Center passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Central Health Care. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center on Thursday, October 24, 2013 with Fr. Chris Shofner officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church before service.
Elva was born on July 14, 1915 in Washington Township, Le Sueur County near Marysburg to Frank and Mary (Haley) Schmidt. She graduated from Mankato High School and Mankato Beauty School. Elva was united in marriage to Alfred E. Beer on February 14, 1939 at Marysburg. They made their home in Le Center. She was a very social person, even up until her death. Always happy to have visitors, and eager to share her memories of days gone by. Playing cards and spending time with her family and friends were her greatest joys.
She is survived by her children; Janice (Ron) Simon of Jacksonville, FL., Carol Hartle (and her friend Jim Shunk) of Plymouth, Jim (Liz) Beer of Edina and Joan (Gary) McCabe of Madison Lake, 14 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Harriet Schmidt of St. Peter and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred in 2003, three sisters and one brother.
