Emily Christine (Kriha) Moore Vlasak

d. August 23, 2020

Emily Christine (Kriha) Moore Vlasak, formally of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at Mala Strana in New Prague, MN on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Emily was born on April 3, 1927 to Thomas and Emma (Rynda) Kriha on the family farm near Heidelberg, Minnesota.

The youngest of three daughters, Emily graduated from Montgomery High School. After high school she worked as a secretary at the Montgomery mill until her marriage on September 7, 1949 to John (Jack) Moore at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery.
Raising four children, Emily was an active homemaker while Jack worked long hours at Bachmans Nursey in Minneapolis. She was an avid gardener, canning and freezing the bounty of each year, growing beautiful flowers and always having fresh floral arrangements in the kitchen. Emily mastered the art of making almost everything from scratch. There were always home baked cookies, pies, cakes, kolacky, or other sweet treats waiting for the kids when they came home from school. Emily also was a dedicated member and volunteer at many church and community organizations including the Alter Rosary Society, Le Sueur County Extension Club, CCW, Co-Chair of the donut sales, Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, Holy Redeemer School, Lay Eucharistic Minister, and co-chair of a Holy Redeemer Church Festival booth for many years. Emily and Jack enjoyed their family and traveling before Jack passed away on June 12, 1993.

Emily found new adventures when she married Alvin Vlasak on May 7, 1994. Emily and Al loved to polka dance, travel to Czech festivals and California in their motor home, and a wonderful trip to the Czech Republic before Al passed away on July 4, 2004.

Emily spent the final phase of her life at Mala Strana Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Emily was a social butterfly for the 12 years she lived in her apartment, enjoying the many activities, card games and especially working on puzzles. Her final two years were spent in the memory care center where she continued to enjoy being around people.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters Rose Marie (Emil) Turek and Mary Ann (Joe and Andy) Cronin Warner, both of California.

Emily will be sadly missed by her children Vic (Martha) of Woodbury, Gary (Mary) of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Gale (Robyn) of St. Charles, Shari of Eagan; grandchildren Nicholas (Lisa) of Fort Dodge, Brady (Courtney) of Missouri City, Texas, Jonathan (Catherine) of Savage, Trevor (MacKenzie) of St. Charles; great- grandchildren Jacob, Lucas, Liv, Camden, Delaney, Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.

A small visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00 am with the funeral mass at 11:00 am at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery. Masks and social distancing must be maintained. Emilys children want everyone to stay safe so they will understand if friends and family cant attend. Eat a piece of chocolate and listen to a polka in her honor. Interment will be following at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Arrangements are with the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. 507-357-6116. On-line condolences may be left at www.schoenbauerfuneralhome.com.
