Evelyn L. Vlasak, age 92, of Montgomery, died on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 28 at ¬¬¬11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Tom Niehaus officiating with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Evelyn was born on September 23, 1927 in Erin Township Rice County to John and Katherine (Uhlir) Peterka. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1944, worked at a Hemp Plant and then attended Teacher Training. Evelyn was united in marriage to George Vlasak on September 2, 1947. She taught for 2 years in Rice County #46 Country School, Le Center School, 10 years at LNMV Area School and 2 years at Holy Redeemer Catholic School.
Evelyn was a member of the 1st Streeters Club and CCW. She enjoyed reading, travelling, and card playing at the Senior Citizens Center.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Jane (George) Brezina, Michael (Jan) Vlasak, and Dianne (Rick) France; grandchildren, Dawn (Bruce) DePauw, David Brezina, Tony (Emily) Vlasak, Dan (Eileen) Vlasak, Krista (Bruce) Johanson, Jennifer (Luke) Robertson, Hilary France, and Justine (Matt) Rush; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
Evelyn is preceded in death by husband, George; sisters, Helen (Ben) Novotny, Anna (Frank) Duban, Blanche (Jacob) Korbel, Tillie (Mahlon) Fierst, and Mary (Ray) Kadlec; brother, Emil (Lillian) Peterka, and Milo in infancy.
