Gary J. Factor

Gary J. Factor, age 69, of Le Center, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 peacefully with his family around him after a brain tumor diagnosis in late November. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13 from 3pm to 8pm at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Monday, January 14, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Le Center, with visitation 1 hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.

Gary was born on July 15, 1949 to Leonard and Eileen (Blaschko) Factor. He attended St. Marys School in Le Center. His freshman year he attended Crosby Seminary for Catholic Priests. He then graduated from McKinley High School in 1967. After high school he attended Mankato State University for 2 years while working as a dispatcher for the Le Sueur County Sheriffs Office. In 1970 he joined his Dad working at Prochaska Motors which later became Factor Motors.

He was always proud of his community he lived in. He served on the Le Center City Council and was Mayor for a combined 26 years. In 1972 he joined the Le Center Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Fire Commission until 2000. He held a seat on the First National Bank Board of directors. He was also a member of the Economic Development Authority for many years.

Gary married his beautiful wife Becky (Gehrke) on October 11, 1969. He was proud of his family and his 16 grandkids. He had a love for golf during the summer months. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing but mostly the camaraderie of these trips. Carpentry was also a pastime he enjoyed making gifts for his family. Time at his cabin on Bowstring Lake was important to him as well during his retirement.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Becky; 4 sons, and 1 daughter, Paul (Piper) Factor, Brad (Paula) Factor, Cory (Laura) Factor, Mike (Nikki) Factor, and Juli (Chris) Hartwig, all of Le Center; 7 grandsons, Hunter, Carson, Harrison, Gage, Kayden, Brody, and Fisher; 9 granddaughters, Taylor, Faith, Jewel, Grace, Isabelle, Lexi, Kaitlyn, Carly, and Cami; 2 brothers and 1 sister, Bob (Lynn) Factor, Rupert (Julie) Factor, and Bonnie (Duane) Stuehrenberg; 3 nephews and 1 niece, Jesse (Alyssa) Stuehrenberg, Jon Stuehrenberg, Josh Stuehrenberg, and Courtney (Kyle) Iverson.
