George Marvin Korbel Jr., age 80, of Kilkenny, died on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Holy Redeemer Knights of Columbus service at 6:30 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Tom Niehause officiating with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. Military honors provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.

George was born on May 27, 1939 at home in Kilkenny Township to George and Emily (Honza) Korbel. George attended Country School in Kilkenny and graduated from Montgomery High School. George was united in marriage to Jeanette Javurek on April 15, 1961 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. George farmed all of his life, worked for Le Sueur County for the Highway Department from 1969 to 1999.

George was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Montgomery, member of the Montgomery Czech Singers, New Prague area Czech Concertina Club and the Montgomery American Legion. He enjoyed Hereford Beef Cattle, Farmall Tractors, playing concertina and broom base, playing cards and games with friends and family.

George is survived by his wife, Jeanette Korbel of Kilkenny; children, Dale (Alicia) Korbel of Montgomery, Gary (Ann) Korbel of Trout Valley, Illinois, Terrance (Tamara) Korbel of Waconia, and Kimberly (Paul) DeVries of Blaine; grandchildren, Daniel (Alex) Korbel, Crystal Blasing, Megan Young, Helen Korbel, Kendra Korbel, Mary Korbel, Katelyn Korbel, Lexie DeVries, and Peter DeVries; great-grandchildren, Cortlynn Blasing and Caylee Blasing; siblings, Richard Korbel of New Prague and Dorothy (Matt) OConnell of New Hope; sister-in-law, Joyce Korbel of Lonsdale.

George is preceded in death by son, Francis in infancy; parents; brothers, Donald (Evelyn) Korbel and Milton Korbel; sister-in-law, Georgeanna Korbel.
