Gilbert Arnold Kline, age 92, of Montgomery, died on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery at 11 a.m. with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Color Guard.
Gilbert was born on January 14, 1928 in Montgomery to Arnold and Slyvia (Taraba) Kline. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School and Dunwoody. Gilbert served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948 and received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Japan. Gilbert was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Rotter on October 9, 1948 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Gilbert farmed, was an electrician at Green Giant in Montgomery for 22 years and a school bus driver.
Gilbert was a member of the Montgomery American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards.
Gilbert is survived by son, Paul (Berna) Kline of Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Jayne Kline of Montgomery; grandchildren, Stacy Kostelnik, Bill Kline (Heidi), Christopher Kline (Korrie), Amy Woxland (Corey), and Jake Kline (Angie); 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Loretta OConnell of Montgomery and Deanna (Darrell) Bowen of Florida; brother-in-law, Wayne Roberts of Florida.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Kline; his parents; children, Douglas (1st wife Shirlee) and Mark; sisters, Arlene (Dale) Shiers and Sally Roberts; brother-in-law, Richard OConnell; great-granddaughter, Hillary in infancy.
