Helen A. Filipek, age 85 of Lonsdale formerly of Montgomery, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Mala Strana in New Prague. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to Mass at church. Interment will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Helen was born on the Brown family farm in St. Thomas, MN on February 8, 1932 to Patrick and Anna (Duane) Brown. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1949. She married Milo John Holey, Sr. on April 11, 1950 in St. Thomas. He died on September 3, 1967. On July 19, 1969 she married Raymond A. Filipek in Le Center, and he died on September 24, 1998. She was heavily involved with the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion of Montgomery. She was the former president and district president of the VFW Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her 4 children, Milo (Lois) Holey, Jr. of Montgomery, Betty (Jerome) Messner of Blaine, Jean (Daniel) Wolfe of New Ulm, and JoAnn (Brian) Shaughnessy of Lonsdale; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Kubes of New Prague; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Milo John Holey, Sr. in �67; second husband, Raymond A. Filipek in '98; and brother, Milton Brown.
