Helen Mary Smisek

Helen Mary Smisek, age 80, of Montgomery, died on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Villages of Lonsdale. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour prior at the Church. Father George Grafsky will be officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery at a later date.

Helen was born on April 13, 1937 in New Prague to William and Elizabeth (Tupy) Kalal. Helen was united in marriage to Lawrence Smisek on May 15, 1956 in Lonsdale. Helen worked with her husband on the farm, enjoyed baking, dancing. She played drums in the Ed Shimota Band, and loved her family.

Helen is survived by children, Larry (Meg) Smisek of Aurora, CO., Bruce (Sheila) Smisek of Montgomery, Steve (Becky) Smisek of Heidelberg, Cindy (Randall) Rivers of New Prague, Laura (Wade) Hintz of New Prague, and Brenda (Tim) Budin of Le Center; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Theresa) Kalal, and Julie (Robert) Smisek.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; grandson, Matthew Smisek; brother-in-law, Robert Smisek.
