Helen Therese Novak, age 94, of Montgomery, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. Visitation will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Wednesday, January 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague.
Helen was born on October 16, 1919 in Erin Township to Albert G. and Ludmilla (Havel) Malecha. She married Eugene Emil Novak at Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale on October 14, 1940. She worked as a nurse's aide at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague for 20 years. Helen enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of the Montgomery Senior Citizens Group, St. Patrick's CCW, and Progressive Homemakers of Cedar Lake, was a 4-H leader for the Helena helpers, and was Past President of Catholic Women's Deanery.
Helen is survived by her four children, Joan (Dennis) Kadrlik of Montgomery, Betty (Bob) Kubes of Webster, Donald (Annetta) Novak of Jordan, and Lorretta (Drew) Lawrence of Waunakee, WI; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Albert Malecha of Montgomery, Leonard Malecha of Lonsdale, and Roman Malecha of Montgomery.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Stanley, Robert, Joseph, and George Malecha; sister, Lillian Tupy; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Novak.
