Henry "Hank" Joseph Heil, age 86, of Montgomery died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Mala Strana in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8 from 9-11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will also be on Monday at 11 a.m. also at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father George Grafsky officiating. Interment will be held in St. John Catholic Cemetery in rural Montgomery.
Hank was born on June 6, 1930 in New Prague to T. Henry and Josephine (Shambouer) Heil. He attended St. Raphel Catholic School and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1948 and received his Associates Degree from Dunwoody Institute. Hank was united in marriage to Blanche (Spoor) in 1951. He began working as a mechanic at Rydell Chevrolet and later Zoff Chev. for 21 years. After his wife's passing in 1972, he then began working at MN Valley Breeders Association until his retirement in 1997.
Hank was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Montgomery Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and playing cards.
Hank is survived by his children, Patricia (Jim) Mladek of Montgomery, Buster Heil and Cliff "Topper" Heil of Portland, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Mary Heil; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charlie (Elsie) Spoor; sister-in-law, Irene Jakes.
Hank is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Greg Heil; grandson, Isaac Heil; and mother-in-law, Ethel Spoor.
