James J. Hruska, 97, of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be at 10am on Wednesday, December 11 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment will be at a later date in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Non-Profit Animal RESCUE 55021 in Faribault, MN.

Jim was born on September 25, 1922 in Erin Township in Rice County to James and Frances (Sevcik) Hruska. Born and raised on a farm, he attended Rice County District #46 and Immaculate Conception Catholic School. He married Marie Singer on November 29, 1947 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.

Throughout his lifetime, Jim held several jobs. He hauled milk for Montgomery Creamery, was part owner of Highway Motors in Montgomery, and worked road construction up North and in Faribault. But his favorite job was hauling grain for Purfeerst out of Kenyon, MN. He loved being a truck driver and it was very difficult for him to retire.
He loved playing cards of all kinds and visiting with friends and neighbors and was very devoted to his pet dogs, especially Molly and Buddy. He was well known for always wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots.

Jim is survived by his special caretakers, Betty and Dave Bruzek; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Marie of 72 years, who passed away October 29, 2019; parents; siblings, Richard (Mary) Hruska, Lillian (Frank) Hruby, Marcie (Leon) Hennes, Arthur (Stella) Hruska, and Alice (Robert) Bruzek.
