James Justin Medvec

James Justin Medvec, age 79, of Montgomery, died on Monday, April 11, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. Mass of Christian burial will also be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Father Victor Valencia will be officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny.

James was born on November 12, 1936 in Minneapolis to John and Emma Znacko Medvec. James graduated from South High School in Minneapolis. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. James was united in marriage to Rita Dvorak on October 8, 1960 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Minneapolis. James retired at age 55 from the Federal Government in Quality Assurance at Honeywell. He enjoyed woodworking, softball and traveling.

James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita of Montgomery; children, Barbara (John) Tauzell of Rochester, Bridget (Michael) Duzey of Wauconda IL., Gregory (Brenda) Medvec of South Haven, Diane (Allen) Overturf of Maple Plain, David (Rebecca) Medvec of St. Cloud, Dan (Jane) Medvec of Lake City, and Matthew (Jennifer) Medvec of Savage; 22 grandchildren, Sarah, Anna, Justin, Andrew, Christopher, Jonathan Tauzell, Joshua and Michael Duzey, Lauren (Dillon) Dougherty, Kirsten, Hannah and Taylor Medvec, Alyssa, Joshua, Spencer and Nicholas Overturf, Sam and Will Medvec, Mitchel and Madeline Medvec, Mason, and Maxwell Medvec; 3 great-grandchildren, Isabella and Peter Tauzell, and Nora Dougherty; sister, Marie Sharpe of Minneapolis, and brother, John Medvec of Minneapolis.

James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eleanor Grant; brothers, Jerry Medvec and Bob Medvec.

Military honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.
