James Truman Cotten

James Truman Cotten, age 77, of Montgomery, died on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Jim was born on October 20, 1939 to James and Cora (Davidson) Cotten in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cyril, Oklahoma High School. He was united in marriage to Janet Christensen in Nashwa, Iowa in the Little Brown Church on May 20, 2006.

He was a very talented man whom was able to do anything. His passion was motorcycle riding and traveling. He and Jan wintered in Arizona after retirement. He loved playing golf, playing pool, but most of all he loved his granddaughters.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jan Cotten of Montgomery; son, Steven (Shari) Cotten of Rosemount; step-daughter, Jill (Bryan) Downey of Denver, Colorado; granddaughters, Kristine Cotten and Evelyn Downey; brother-in-law, Gary (Pat) Hert of Columbia SC; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Allen Cotten, and E.J. Cotten; sisters, Alta Wilcox, Kathryn Farris, Marie Redin, and Eva Jensen.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pediatric Brain tumor Foundation in Ashville, NC or the Shetek Lutheran Ministries in Slayto, MN.
