Janice Katherine Selly

Janice Katherine Selly, age 95 of Le Center, MN died at Horizon Place in Le Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Le Center Funeral Home from 4:00 � 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry. The burial will be at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Red Cross.

Janice was born at her home in Eagle Lake on December 30, 1922 to Lawrence and Mary (Klages) Olinger. She graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato, MN in 1941. On September 25, 1944, Janice married Francis "Bud" Selly at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato. She worked at Brett's Department Store in Mankato, and later, as a dietary aid at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. She also worked in Mankato during WW II for the war effort.

Janice was a life member of both the VFW and Legion Auxiliaries. She volunteered for the Blood Mobile, was a 4H Leader, and a Girl Scout Leader. She loved card playing, especially Pfeffer.

Janice is survived by four children, Roger (Wendy) Selly of Sydney, Australia, Jim (Lynn) Selly of Le Center, Larry Selly of Minnetonka, and Judy (Rich) Carlson of Cedar City, Utah; two sisters, Joan (Richard) Sampson of Auburn, CA and Eileen Claridge of Red Wing, MN; 7 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Bud) Selly; parents; Lawrence and Mary Olinger; brother, Norman (Maxine) Olinger; sister, Delores (Lee) Schindler; and brother-in-law, Gary Claridge; and infant daughter, Rosemary.
