Jeffrey John Hayden PHD, age 52, passed away peacefully at his home in Bluffton, South Carolina with his Wife, Oanh; daughter, Shauna; and aunt Dorothy at his side. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father James Stiles officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.
Jeff was the oldest son of Mary and Don Hayden. He had a full but short life filled with study and adventures. After graduating from the U of M, with his Chinese class took a trip to Beijing, China and Jeff stayed in China and took a train to Shanghai and continued studies. Later he returned to Beijing, he worked there translating Chinese to English. During this time he played the bass guitar with a rock band, and he rode a camel in Mongolia. Jeff met his wife to be, in Beijing. Oanh as born in Viet Nam and was working in China where they married. They returned to Honolulu, United States and both continued their studies. Jeff received a PHD in Chinese language and literature. Oanh received her Masters in accounting.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Oanh; daughter, Shauna; brother, John Paul (Saundra) Hayden; niece and nephew, Kennedy and Kyle; parents, Mary Louise and Don Hayden; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jeff is preceded in death by his grandparents, Grace and John Halloran and Mabel and Jerry Hayden.
