Jerry George Herrmann

Jerry George Herrmann left this world peacefully on February 15, 2025 at the age of 86 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on June 25, 1938 in New Prague, MN to Jerry and Mary (Tikalsky) Herrmann of Lonsdale. He grew up in Lonsdale, graduated from New Prague High School in 1956 and the University of MN School of Pharmacy in 1962.

He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Rathmanner, in 1961 and settled in Montgomery where they raised their 6 children, ran the local pharmacy and engaged in countless events in support of their church and community. He was proud of his Czech heritage and the Montgomery & Lonsdale communities.

Jerry’s life was filled with passion and adventure. He was a man who fully embraced life, with a deep love for family, travel, basketball, golf, hunting, fishing and all things outdoors. Whether it was playing, cheering or coaching children and grandchildren, he was always ready to dive in with enthusiasm and a light-hearted competition!

Family was at the heart of everything Jerry did. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always there to offer support, wisdom, and laughter. His home was a gathering place for celebrations, where milestones were marked, and memories were made. He truly believed in the importance of togetherness, making every holiday and special occasion an event to remember.

Jerry is survived by his children, Dr. Martin Herrmann (Anna), Mary Franta (Tom), Katy Christian (Brad), Susy Rabenberg (Troy), and Michael Herrmann (Katie); sisters Mary Ronholm and Margaret Boruta, 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and son Jerry.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Visitation will continue for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 10:30 am at the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
