Joan C. Hamlin

Joan C. Hamlin, Age 89, of Montgomery passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at French Meadow Place in Le Sueur. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 15 from 10am-11am with Funeral service to follow at 11 all at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery with Pastor Jason Pollington officiating. Interment will be held in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery.

Joan was born to Olaf and Gina (Starren) Paulson on April 30, 1934, in Roseau, MN. She attended country school and later graduated from Roseau High School. Joan married Willard Hamlin in Northwood, IA on July 28, 1958. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and helping others however she could. She worked as a paraprofessional 19 years for Montgomery School.

Joan is survived by children, Lowell Petersen of Roseau, and David Hamlin of Montgomery; stepson, Rick Hamlin of Farmington, IA, Bud Hamlin of Jensen Beach, FL. and stepdaughter, Vicky; siblings, Shirley Efta of Milwaukee, WI, Beverly Hedlund of Roseau, and Ruben (Laura) Norquist of Roseau; several step grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earl Petersen, and Willard Hamlin; infant daughter, Deborah; brother, Raymond Paulson; stepfather, Randy Norquist; brothers-in-law, Don Efta and Jim Hedlund; niece, Lorie Efta.
