Joan Clara Mccabe

Joan Clara McCabe, 87 of Le Center, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at her daughter's home in Le Center. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on December 21 also at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation one hour prior. Father Chris Shofner will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.

Joan was born on January 27, 1928 to Sam and Marguerite (Doran) Biehn in Mankato. She was a graduate from Cleveland High School and Mankato Commercial College. Joan was united in marriage to Gordon McCabe on January 6, 1951 at Marysburg Catholic Church.

Joan was a member of the Altar Society at Church of the Nativity in Cleveland, and the CCW of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Joan and husband Gordon were the first Grand Marshalls of Le Center's St. Patrick's Celebration. She also hosted a traditional Sunday breakfast each week for her family and friends.

Joan is survived by children, Terry (Mame) McCabe of Le Center, Sheila (Jerry) Swan of Le Center, Ann (Phil) Kortuem of Madison Lake, Shannon (Kevin) Baker of Madison Lake, and Brian (Laura) McCabe of Le Center; honorary daughter, Laurie (Wayne) Armstrong of Waseca; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois McCabe of Cleveland, and Dorothy Biehn of Circle Pines, and many other relatives and friends.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon McCabe in 2005; brothers, Hilaire, and Lawrence Biehn.
