John 'Jack' Mccourtney

John “Jack” McCourtney, 81, of Le Center, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Mayo Hospital in Mankato. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, February 11 at 10 am with Father Chris Shofner officiating with visitation one hour prior at the church. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Military honors will be provided by the Le Center area Honor Guard.

John was born on November 11, 1937 in St. Peter to John Francis and Julia M. (Hauer) McCourtney. Jack served in the Navy Air Corps from 1955 to 1963. Jack was united in marriage to Joan Marie Sheehy on October 8, 1960 in Kilkenny. He was a master barber and also a real estate broker. Jack was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Le Center Community Club. Jack enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending winters in Texas.

Jack is survived by his wife, Joan McCourtney of Le Center; children, John “Craig” (Judy) McCourtney of Eagle Lake, and James “Binger” McCourtney of Eagan; grandchildren, Jacob (Sarah), Brandon, Jeffrey McCourtney, James (Katrina), Christopher and Alissa Schlie; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Eva, Cambria, Wesson, Hayden, Tucker, Paisley, Stella, and Emerson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gerri (Jake) David, Mike Lamey, Robert (Maryls) Sheehy, and Bonnie (Dale) Armstrong.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sisters-in-law, Marian Hruza and Colleen Lamey; brother-in-law, Dick Hruza.
