John M. Schaefer

John M. Schaefer, 58, of Montgomery passed away on May 6, 2015 at The Lodge in Elko New Market. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Funeral service will be on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church in New Prague with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at the Friedens Lutheran Cemetery.

John was born in Austin, April 24 to Viola and Ken Schaefer. He married Deb February 3, 1990 at the Candle Light Chapel in Las Vegas. After graduating from Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute, John worked for a local farmer farrowing to finish pigs. His love for farming came from his grandparents. In 1983 he moved to the Twin Cities and started working for a Ford dealer working his way up to a technician. John enjoyed Ham Radio, DXing for radio stations, dirt bike racing, antique tractor shows, getting together with good friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Deb of Montgomery; parents, Viola and Ken of Austin; brother, Jim (Sue) of St. Paul; sister, Kathy (Mike) Aguilar of Eagan and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by Almeda and Clarence Beireis, Alma Miller and Richard Schaefer.
