Jordan Russell Gish, age 72 of Le Center, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at Benedictine Nursing Home in St. Peter. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4th from 4pm to 7pm at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 5th at 11am at the Cleveland Church of Christ with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Savidge Lake Cemetery in Cleveland. A reception will follow burial at the Cleveland Church of Christ.
Jordan was born March 28th, 1947 in Mankato, MN to Chris and Virginia (Goldsmith) Gish. He graduated from McKinley High School, Le Center, MN in 1965. Jordan attended Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN in 1969 earning a degree in business administration/economics. During his time at Gustavus he was actively involved with the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Jordan married Linda Schaus in 1975 and they had two children together. They later divorced. For much of his professional career Jordan owned and operated a successful insurance agency in Le Center. In retirement he enjoyed driving school bus for both the St. Peter and Cleveland school districts. Jordan found great joy giving back to his community and was involved in a number of organizations including the Le Center Lions Club, Sons of the American Legion, the Izaak Walton League, and he dutifully served as a member of the Le Center School Board in the early 1990s. Jordans love for music was a theme throughout his life. He played piano and organ regularly at his local church, the Cleveland Church of Christ. He was a member of the Rhythm Kings (also known as the Mike Glieden Trio) for over four decades playing keys, bass, and singing back-up vocals. Jordan also enjoyed playing various brass instruments with Le Centers Community band, as well as the Echoes. In 2008, Jordan was inducted into the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame, an honor he cherished dearly. Jordan will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his love of the Lord, his family, buying and selling old cars, and his music.
Jordan is survived by his children, Arnie (Jen) Gish of Lawton, OK, and Katie Gish of Le Center; sister, Aprille Schunk of Jordan; grandchildren, Payton Lange of Mankato, Tyler, Gideon, Abby, and Samuel Gish of Lawton, OK.
Jordan is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Virginia Gish and brother-in-law, John Schunk.
