LeRoy John Simonette, 89 of Le Center, passed away at his home in Le Center on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, June 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center with Father Chris Shofner officiating, with visitation from 8 am to 10 at church. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Military honors will be provided by the Le Center area Veterans Honor Guard.
LeRoy was born on July 19, 1928 in Le Sueur County to William John and Mary Ellen (Donovan) Simonette. LeRoy was united in marriage to Charlotte Krenik on January 6, 1953 at St. Richards Catholic Church in Richfield. LeRoy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. LeRoy was a farmer and also worked at Unimin Mining for 36 years as a supervisor. He was a member of the St. Mary's K of C's and the Le Center VFW. He was proud of his Catholic faith. He liked John Deere Tractors, Ford pickups, music and a good cigar. He loved his family and enjoyed his summers up north fishing with family.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Le Center; children, John (Rhonda) Simonette, Tim Simonette, Pat (Patti) Simonette, Jim (Pam) Simonette, Mary Jane (Jeff) Bruns, Tom (Katrina Jellum) Simonette, Andy Simonette, Jerry (Kelly) Simonette, and Martin (Christina) Simonette; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Jane; brothers, Roger and Clayton Simonette; and grandson, Nicholas Simonette.
