Lillian Cecelia Malecha-Novotny, age 94 of Montgomery passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. all at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Lillian was born on October 10, 1929 in Rice County to William and Cecelia (Novotny) Sirek. She was united in marriage to Stanley Malecha on June 18, 1946. After his passing she married Alvin Novotny. She worked at Munsingwear, Green Giant, Mala Strana and the American Legion in Montgomery. Lillian enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, yard work, and fishing.
Lillian is survived by her children, Diane (Brian) Wolf of Montgomery and Karen (Pat) Shaughnessy of Melrose; many stepchildren; grandchildren, Ann Tiili of Luverne, IA., Matt (Dawn) Miller of Lonsdale, Erin (Terry) Hinton of St. Peter, Ryan (Johanna) Shaughnessy of St. Paul, and Kyle (Tami) Shaughnessy of Holdingford, MN.; many step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Kaisersatt of Montgomery.
Lillian is preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Malecha, second husband, Alvin Novotny; step granddaughter; and her parents.
