Marchie August Richter

Marchie August Richter age 96, of New Prague, formerly of Montgomery passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. also at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Burial will be at Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery.
Marchie was born to Herman C. and Dora C. (Gruetzmacher) Richter on March 9, 1918 in Le Sueur County. He was enrolled in District #60 country school and graduated after 8th grade. After school he helped his parents and brothers on the family farm.
On January 29, 1966, with the outside temperature of -36 degrees he was united in marriage to Elsie Shetka Paur at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. In February of 1966 they went on their honeymoon to the Hawaiian Islands. After their honeymoon, they did a lot of traveling to all 50 states and 7 continents, until their health started declining.
Marchie is survived by sisters-in-laws, Eleanor Richter of Montgomery and Mayme Richter of Mound; nieces, Carolyn Richter of New Prague, Darlene Richter of Edina and Sharon Tester of Mound; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Richter (1918-2006), parents Herman C. Richter (1874-1954), Dora C. (Gruetzmacher) Richter (1889-1970); brothers, Elmer C. Richter (1910-1962), Harry H. Richter (1911-1997), John C. Richter (1914-1978) and Clarence L. Richter (1920-2000).
