Margaret Delores Vollmer

Margaret Delores Vollmer, age 75, of Le Center, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014. Visitation will be held at Le Center Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation one hour prior at the Le Center Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Margaret was born on April 11, 1939 on the family farm in Rural Montgomery Township to John and Cecelia (Shaugnessy) Cashin. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1957 and graduated from the first the Nursing Class at District One Hospital in 1959. She was united in marriage to Roger Vollmer on June 18, 1960 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Margaret was a dedicated nursing professional for 54 years beginning her career at St. Peter Community Hospital from 1960- 1966 and was one of the first nurses hired at Central Health Care in 1966, retiring in 2013 after 47 years of service.

Margaret spent her life caring for others. She enjoyed travel and spending time with friends and family. Margaret celebrated her Irish heritage annually by hosting the Cashin clan gathering every St. Patrick's Day.

Margaret is survived by husband, Roger Vollmer of Le Center; children, Sheila (Larry) Thomas of Hastings, and Robert (Melanie) Vollmer of Le Center; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Connor and Lauren Thomas and Brennan and Gracelyn Vollmer; siblings, Mary Krenik of Le Center, T. Donald (Betty) Cashin of Albert Lea, John "Jack" (Wilma) Cashin of Woodbury and Rita Ann Halloran of Plymouth; Brother-in-law, Lloyd Vollmer of Hastings and sister-in-law, Beth Barber of Le Center and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother-in-law and one nephew.
