Marian B. Tuma, age 90 of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am on Saturday, October 28 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Visitation will be from 9am to 11am at the church. Interment will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in rural Montgomery.

Marian was born on March 23, 1927 in Rice County to John J. and Anna (Kaderlik) Brezina. She attended country school in Lexington for six years and was a graduate from Montgomery High School in 1945. Upon her graduation she attended normal teacher training in Le Center for a year and taught in rural schools for six years. She later completed her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from Mankato State University.

Marian was united in marriage to Milo A. Tuma on April 10, 1951. After Milo completed his tour with the Army they settled on her parent's farm. They retired from farming in 1984, but continued to live on the farm until February 8, 2014 when they moved to Park Manor in Montgomery.

Marian returned to teaching in 1969 at Holy Redeemer School retiring in 1997 with a total of thirty-four years which includes the six rural school years. She was honored as the Archdiocese Teacher of the Year in 1995. After her retirement from teaching she continued to work as the school librarian at Holy Redeemer School for another eleven years retiring in 2008. During the summer months starting in 1985 she worked at the local Green Giant Company. While continuing to teach from 1990-2006 she worked at Mala Strana in New Prague and at the American legion until 2009. Teaching and working other jobs kept her busy, but she still found time for travel and enjoyed cooking for her family and grandchildren who were her joy and love. She enjoyed listening to as well as dancing to old time music with her husband and friends.

Marian is survived by her daughters, Pam (Russ) Connolley of Rice, and Melissa (John) Voigt of Cleveland; grandchildren, David (Stacey) Voigt, and Laura Voigt; sister, Wilma (Barney) Dalton.

Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Milo; and parents.
