Marie 'Bobbie' Hruska

Marie “Bobbie” Hruska, age 91, of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Central Health Care in Le Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, from 9am to 11am at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am at the funeral home with Father George Grafsky officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society.

Marie was born on March 22, 1928, in Minneapolis. She grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Country School. On November 29, 1947, Marie and Jim Hruska were united in marriage at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.

Throughout her lifetime, Marie held several jobs, besides being a homemaker, which included waitressing, Munsingwear, School for the Deaf in Faribault, American Greeting Cards at White Mart, also in Faribault, and would do alternations on clothing for people. She also sewed many, many, beautiful doll clothes for the American Doll and sold these at Craft and Gift stores throughout Minnesota and out of her home.

She was well known for playing cards, crocheting intricate doilies and book markers, baking and always having a pot of coffee ready for company, her delicious Vomacka and Booya and playing her guitar and singing country western music and hymns, and making and donating caps for the Veterans. But most of all, she was very dedicated to her family of many pets, dogs, cats, and birds, which she loved dearly.

Marie is survived by her husband, Jim of 71 years; special caretakers, Betty and Dave Bruzek; and many other nieces, nephews, friends, and her cats, Kitty Girl, Tommy Boy, and Striper.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna Singer; beloved dogs, Buddy, Molly, Puffie, and Poozer.
