Marietta P. O'Brien

Marietta P. O'Brien, age 85 of Montgomery, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at her home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Fr. George Grafsky will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, December 27 at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery and will continue one hour prior to Mass at church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Marietta was born on February 25, 1930 to Joseph and Mary (Petricka) Hruby in Montgomery. She graduated from Montgomery High School. She married Robert O'Brien on September 8, 1951 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. She was involved with Meals on Wheels, MVAC for fuel assistance, many local card clubs, and the county Extension program. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Marietta is survived by her children, Connie (Joe) Daleiden of Lonsdale, Diane Pitan of Morristown, Jim (Kathy) O'Brien of Kilkenny, and Laurie (Andy) Zimprich of Le Sueur; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Hruby of Montgomery; sister, JoAnn (Jack) Holomek of Montgomery; brother-in-law, Jerome (Cleo) O'Brien of Isle, MN; sister-in-law, Pauline O'Brien of New Prague, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Betty Hruby; husband, Robert O'Brien; sister, Eleanor Kauffmann; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hruby, and son-in-law, Cary Pitan.
