Marlys Dorthea Vavra

Marlys Dorthea Vavra, age 82 of Le Center died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Faribault Care Center in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center on Friday, December 6 from 9:00 � 11:00 a.m. Funeral service also will be held on Friday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center.

Marlys was born on April 30, 1931 in Donnelly, MN to William and Martha (Thurmer) Ristow. She graduated from Le Center High School. Marlys and Charles Vavra were married on December 26, 1950 in Le Center. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She worked as a Purchasing Manager for the USA Air Force Bases and was also a licensed vocational nurse in Duluth and Le Center. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and crocheting, garage sales, drawing and wintering in Texas for the past 33 years, and most of all, Marlys loved her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Vavra of Le Center; daughters, Deborah Waldriff of Le Center and Linda (Greg) Forbes of Chatfield; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Wallace (Jean) Ristow, William Jr. (Shirley) Ristow, Orlyn Ristow, Dennis (Terri) Ristow; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother.
