Marvin Jakes Sr.

Marvin Jakes Sr., age 85, of Montgomery passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Family Residence in Northfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4 from 3pm-4pm with Funeral service following at 4pm all held at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Interment will be at Bohemian National Cemetery at a later date.

Marvin was born on August 24, 1935 to Adeline (Kuzel) and James Jakes at their family farm in Montgomery. He graduated from Montgomery High School and was a farmer for 50+ years. Marvin was united in marriage to Irene Spoor and later divorced.

Marvin enjoyed growing and pruning trees, fixing up homes, fishing, and traveling to Arizona in the winter. Marvin was a member of the Montgomery Lions, Masons, St. John Lutheran Church Council, Bohemian Cemetery Board, Pioneer Power Association, AA Group, Arizona Mounted Posse.

Marvin is survived by his children, Sandra Sticha of Faribault, Marvin Jr (Mary) Jakes of Montgomery, David (Cindy) Jakes of Montgomery, Steven Jakes of Williston, ND., Kenneth Jakes of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Kaderlik of Lonsdale.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert “Bobby”.
