Mary Ann Wood

Mary Ann Wood, 85, of Le Center, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Horizon Place in Le Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Memorials preferred to St. Mary's Church building fund.

Mary was born on November 10, 1928 in Jordan to Nicholas and Christine (Wick) VonBank. She went to St. John's Catholic School and High School in Jordan. She was united in marriage to Russell Wood in Jordan on April 28, 1949. She worked at Spors Company, along with various jobs, with retiring at WINCO in Le Center. Her and Russell also owned Woods bar in New Prague.

She did much volunteer work for St. Mary's Thrift Store, food shelf, St. Mary's Quilting, along with being a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed gardening, loved her children and grandchildren immensely, going to family events, along with cooking and baking.

Mary is survived by her children, Cheryl Wolff (Roger Thompson) of Clearwater, Arlie (Luanne) Wood of Deland, FL., Steve (Karen) Wood of Rice, Mary (Chuck) Prososki of Le Center, Lynn (Ken) Klingsporn of North Mankato, Ken (Gina) Wood of Maplewood and David (Connie) Wood of Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Lisa Valiant of Annandale; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Clete (Shirley) VonBank of Marshall, Marge Kochlin of Jordan, Jack VonBank of Le Center, Sister Sue VonBank of Seattle, WA; and sister-in-law, Shari Wood.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wood; son, Rusty Wood; parents, Nicholas and Christine VonBank; brother-in-law, Curt Kochlin; sister-in-laws, Jeanne VonBank, Arlene Mach and Patty Zweber.
