Mary Bridget Krenik, age 91 of Le Center, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. Visitation will be held at the Le Center Funeral Home on Friday, July 6 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Chris Shofner presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center.
Mary was born in New Prague, MN on February 4, 1927 to John and Cecelia (Shaughnessy) Cashin. She graduated from Montgomery High School and married Richard Edward Krenik at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN on October 14, 1947. They lived together for 48 years on their farm south of Le Center, MN where they raised 12 children. In addition to raising her family and working on the farm, Mary worked at Central Health Care Center in Le Center for 28 years and also part time at the Le Center American Legion Club.
In 2000, Mary was named as Co-Grand Marshall along with Pat Blaschko and Mary Genelin for Le Center's annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration. She was very proud to be 100% Irish. In September 2008, she moved to Centennial Plaza in Le Center, and in 2013, moved to Horizon Place in Le Center.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Alter Society, was a 4H leader for 8 years, and a member of the Birthday Club. She enjoyed Bingo, Cooking, and Baking.
Mary is survived by 11 children, Emmett Krenik of Le Center, Mary Ann (Rick) Johnson of Waseca, Elaine (Ken Carlson) Krenik of St. Anthony, Judy (Mike) Miller of Kilkenny, Greg (Karen) Krenik of Le Center, Carol (Don) Mangan of Le Center, Robert (Shelley) Krenik of Le Center, Colleen (Rick) Wagner of Le Center, Kevin (Ann) Krenik of Nevis, LaVerne (Cindy) Krenik of Le Center, and Gretchen (Ron) McCabe of Madison Lake; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Betty) Cashin of Albert Lea and Jack Cashin of Maplewood; sister, Rita Halloran of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Margaret Traxler; brothers-in-law, Norby (Teresa) Krenik, Ed (Hanna) Krenik, and Gordon (Kathy) Krenik
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Cecelia Cashin; husband, Richard Krenik; son, Eugene Krenik; sister Margaret Vollmer; sisters-in-law, Gayle Krenik, Wilma Cashin, and Delores Hruby; and brothers-in-law, Dan Krenik, Joe Halloran, Roger Vollmer, Chuck Traxler, and Bob Hruby.
