Mary Ellen Reintjes

MARY ELLEN REINTJES, age 78 of Elysian, died Sunday, February 2, 2025, at her home.

She was born on December 30, 1946, in New Prague, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Tupa) Novotny. She married John Reintjes at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague and they spent over 50 years of life, love, and marriage together. Mary worked for Larson’s Sports Equipment in Le Center and continued working for the company once they transitioned to WINCO generators. She was a loving wife and mother, who always ensured her family was taken care of. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, baking cookies and making Easter eggs, family get-togethers and traveling as much as she and John could. Most of all, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school events and being a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, in Madison Lake.

She is survived by her husband, John; her sons, Jesse Reintjes and Jeremy (Melissa) Reintjes; grandchildren, Carter and Miles Reintjes; siblings, Deanna Novotny, Sue Roe, Betty Stanke, Sally Malz, Don, Joe and Dave Novotny; cousins, Johnny and Bernie Novotny, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary; siblings, Julie Halvorson, Tom Novotny, Roger Novotny; nephew, Greg Stanke and niece, Ashley Israelson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the mass at church. Interment will follow in the Marysburg Cemetery in Madison Lake.
